This might sound just like another horny post, which frankly it partly is, but dating men is so much more pleasant and being part of the gay community is in general quite a nice experience, compared to being on the dating market with women, exactly because a large part of the gay community already lives by these rules. I also feel that two men can have a really special deep bond, which just isn't possible to emulate in a hetero relationship. One of the main issues I see in the gay community is that quite a lot of gay people have some kind of internalized homophobia and/or feelings of shame, but I'm hopeful about the future and believe we'll see this less and less in the future.
